|
A Semaphore is a flag system using red and yellow flags and doing certain directions to convey a message.

|
The Semaphore flag replaced letter delivery due to people signalling one another instead of sending letters back and forth.

The Semaphore flag was replaced by the electronic telegraph by Samuel Morse.

ASCII
|
ASCII represents different letters, numbers and symbols as two binary codes (0 and 1).

|
ASCII did not replace anything as it was a code that started to represent different codes as binary codes or other codes.

It has not been replaced as of this time.
